These works focus on the body and the formation of identity as a cycle of repetitions and differences. The Flux series deals with the instability of boundaries placed on the body and the distorted effect this can have on one’s sense of self. Becoming examines the dissociative effects on identity formation when the body is held to unachievable or contradictory standards of representation. It is through these pieces that I explore the processes through which our identification with the constructed body can be either reinforced or undermined, often resulting in a fluctuating or fractured sense of self. Informed by this sense of ambiguity and displacement, I aim to demonstrate the ephemeral nature of the body and the self. It is my intention to convey not a singular position or experience but the subjectivity of experience as a living body.
